What is the EzDriveMA scam? It is a scam that involves text messages claiming to be from EzDriveMA requesting that you make unpaid toll payments. It is called a smishing scam.
This type of scam targets toll customers in Massachusetts and usually includes text messages claiming that your vehicle has unpaid bills and to avoid increased fees due to late payment, you are required to pay a certain amount immediately, often $6.99.
The message comes with a link and some instructions that you're expected to follow, and this is where it gets tricky and threatening. Be aware that EZDriveMA payments are made through transponders or invoices mailed to your address. EZDriveMA does not send text messages about unpaid toll fees.
