Cash App & payment app scam

Payment-app scams come in three common flavors: fake customer support found via a search engine that walks you into 'verifying' your account; 'cash flipping' where someone promises to multiply a small payment; and a stranger who 'accidentally' sends you money from a stolen account and asks you to send it back — the original transfer is later reversed, and your refund is gone.

• A support number found through search or social media, not the app itself
• Promises to 'flip' or multiply your money
• A stranger sends you money and urgently asks for it back
• Anyone asks for your PIN, sign-in code, or to screen-share

"Hey, I sent you $300 by accident, it was meant for my rent! Can you send it back please? I'm panicking."

1. 01Only contact support through the official app — never a number from a search result.
2. 02If a stranger 'accidentally' pays you, let the app reverse it; never send your own money back.
3. 03Treat money sent to strangers like cash — it's usually unrecoverable.
4. 04Report the account inside the app and to the FTC.
