Fake package delivery

Pretends to be a delivery service to harvest payment info.

How it works

A text or email impersonating USPS, FedEx, UPS or DHL says a package can't be delivered without paying a fee or confirming details. The form collects card data and sometimes installs malware.

Red flags

Carrier name in a domain that isn't the official one
Asking for credit card to release a package
Tracking number that doesn't validate on the real carrier site

Real-world example

"FedEx: Your shipment 1Z-9X4-... could not be delivered. Pay $2.99 redelivery fee at fedex-redelivery.click"

What to do

01Verify with the actual carrier app or website.
02Never enter card info to release a package.
03Report to ReportFraud.ftc.gov (US) or your local consumer authority.
