Pig butchering (crypto romance)

After building a romantic or friendly relationship over weeks, the scammer introduces a 'private' crypto trading platform where they're making huge returns. You're allowed to make small withdrawals at first, then talked into investing more — and finally locked out.

• New friend insists you try their special trading platform
• Screenshots of huge unrealistic profits
• You can withdraw small amounts, but big withdrawals require 'tax' or 'fees'
• Pressure to invest savings, take a loan, or use credit

"My uncle taught me a method that makes 8% a day on this exchange. I'll guide you — start with $500 and you'll see."

1. 01Stop sending funds and don't pay any 'release fee'.
2. 02Take screenshots of all conversations and the platform.
3. 03Report to your national cybercrime authority (IC3 in the US).
