Delivery redelivery text

A small fee to reschedule a parcel you might genuinely be expecting.

How it works

Texts claiming to be from USPS, FedEx, DHL, Royal Mail or Evri say a delivery failed and ask for a small redelivery or customs fee, usually one or two dollars. The tiny amount is the point: it feels too trivial to be fraud. The page captures your card number, address and often a one-time code, and the card is then used or sold. Timing is matched to shopping seasons when almost everyone has a parcel in transit.

Red flags

  • A fee of a dollar or two to release a parcel
  • A tracking number that does not match anything you ordered
  • Link on an odd domain rather than the courier's real site
  • The message arrives from an email address or an overseas number

Real-world example

"USPS: your package is on hold due to an incomplete address. Please update within 24 hours and pay the $1.99 redelivery fee: usps-track-fee.top/re"

What to do

  1. 01Track the parcel in the retailer's app or on the courier's own website.
  2. 02Never pay a courier fee through a link in a text.
  3. 03If you already paid, call your bank and cancel the card.
  4. 04Forward the text to 7726 (SPAM) and delete it.
